Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Tap a creature to put it on the scale, then tap a second one. The scale tips toward the heavier one, and the table below keeps track of everything you've learned: lighter creatures sit to the left, and threads connect the ones you know about. Sort them all (or reach the level's goal) in as few weighings as you can. A level ends after twice its par in weighings; you can always try again with new weights. You can also drag creatures onto the pans.

What does "par" mean?

Par is the number of weighings a perfect player can always guarantee, however unlucky the weights are. Finish at par or under for 3 stars. You can't fail a level - stars only measure how well you did.

Is the game free?

Yes. Blind Scale is free to play and supported by ads. A one-time Remove Ads purchase permanently removes the ads shown between levels. Hint packs and a Supporter Pack are optional. No purchase is ever required to play.

What are hints, and what happens when I run out?

A hint shows a smart pair to weigh next. You start with a few, get one free each day (up to 5), and earn more by completing worlds. When you're out, you can watch a short optional ad for a hint, or buy a hint pack in the Shop.

An ad didn't load - am I stuck?

No. Rewards (a hint, waking a sleepy creature, continuing a run) need an ad to play. If none can load (for example when you're offline), try again a bit later. You can always keep playing without the reward.

I bought Remove Ads on another device, or reinstalled the game.

Open the Shop (the bag icon on the Home screen, or Settings in a level) and tap Restore. Remove Ads and the Supporter Pack are restored from your Apple ID (iPhone, iPad) or your Google account (Android; this also happens by itself when the game starts). Hint packs are used up when you spend the hints, so they can't be restored.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, automatically, on your device. A level you were in the middle of when the app was closed starts over. Progress is not synced between devices. On iPhone and iPad, uninstalling the game removes it. On Android, your progress is included in your phone's backup to your Google account (if backup is on), so it comes back when you reinstall the game or set up a new phone.

What are Daily, Endless and Rush?

Daily (unlocks after level 10): one puzzle per day, the same for everyone, with a scale that answers to make it as hard as possible. Keep your streak and share your result. Endless (after level 20): back-to-back levels with three hearts - finishing over par costs one. Rush (after level 30): each level has a clock that gets a little shorter every time; 3 stars earn 2 extra seconds for the next level, 1 star or less costs 2.

Can I make the game easier on the eyes?

Yes. In Settings you can choose Light, Dark or Auto appearance, turn on Reduced motion, switch the creatures to plain Boxes, and turn sound or haptics off. Every creature also carries a symbol (circle, triangle, square, star, heart or diamond) so colour isn't needed to tell them apart.

How do I reset my progress?

Open Settings and use Progress → Reset (tap twice to confirm). Your purchases are kept: Remove Ads and the hints you have stay.
